Dear participants,


We would like to apologize for the delays in timeline of the competition. The delay was due to some unforeseen circumstances. We are truly sorry for all the inconveniences caused. 


Some announcements for the competition:


Submission and Exchange of memorials:
Date: 4th Jan 2012 (Wednesday)
Time: 6pm to 7pm
Venue: OR Room


Please take note that each team is required to submit 6 copies of memorials. 
Final Round will be held as follows:

English Moot Competition

Date: 14th January 2012 (Saturday)

Time: 8.30am-11.30am

Venue: Multimedia University Moot Court

Bahasa Malaysia Moot Competition and Award Ceremonies

Date: 14th January 2012 (Saturday)

Time: 12.30am- 4.00pm

Venue: Multimedia University Moot Court

Withdrawal and disqualification of Team 47
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are sorry to announce that Temn 47 will no longer be participating in the competition. After discussion by lecturers, Team 54, the runner up for  English Respondent category will be replacing  Team 47 as the English respondent team in the Final Round of MMU Law Moot Competition 2011/12.

Court Structure and Court Attire

   

Guidelines

Please take note that, in each round at all levels of the competition, the order of the moot is:

1. Appellant 1 (Lead Counsel)
2. Appellant 2 (Co-Counsel)
3. Respondent 1 (Lead Counsel)
4. Respondent 2 (Co-Counsel)
5. Rebuttal (Appellant)        
6. Surrebuttal (Respondent)

Kindly be reminded that pursuant to Rule 8.2.1, each team is allowed 45 minutes to moot, which is to be apportioned as follows:

1. Counsel – 20 minutes
2. Co-Counsel – 20 minutes
3. rebuttal and surrebuttal – 5 minutes

Also, pursuant to Rule 8.2.2, any of the counsels in each team is entitled to deliver to rebuttal and surrebuttal.

Dear all mooters,

Please take note on these few matters,

1. All teams are required to submit four ( 4) bundles of memorials ( previously the requirement was 3 bundles).Please tie up the memorials together and hand in to the organizing committee

2. The spacing for the memorials is 1.5.

3. Participants are allowed to highlight own specific memorials before the submission.

Attention all mooters!

Dear Mooters,

Your utmost attention is hereby requested on the following:

1. Problem clarification should be attached with the moot question in the memorial. Place it after the moot question. It supplements the original moot problem. Kindly be reminded that all teams must include both English and Bahasa Malaysia problem clarifications in their memorials. Teams mooting in English may rely on Bahasa Malaysia problem clarifications and vice versa.

2. Each team is required to submit 3 bundles of memorial. Please tie up the memorials together and hand in to the organizing committee accordance to details as follow:

Date: 31^st October 2011 (Monday)

Venue: MPBR 0016 (room where the statute books were distributed)

Time: 10.00a.m. – 5.00p.m.

Prior to the submission of memorials, please contact:

*Please take note that the organizing committee will not provide any memorials, all participants are required to bring along their respective memorials during the competition.

*Please take note that only one day will be allocated for the submission of memorials. Failure to comply with the requirements will be subjected to serious disciplinary action.

*Late submission of memorials would not be entertained, and the team shall be responsible for it.

3. For those who will be taking their MUET examination 2011/2012 on 17^th - 19^th November 2011(date of Law Moot Competition), kindly send an email to mmulawmoot@yahoo.com before 31^st October 2011 and provide us with relevant documents. Emails sent after the deadline will not be entertained.

4. Please take note that there are clarifications made to ‘Structure of Memorial’ - (no. 4) relating to Length of Argument. Each argument must not exceed eight (8) pages including both counsel’s and co-counsel’s argument. Participants may have more than one (1) argument.
